Everything you need to know about volunteering at Raw Challenge

What time do I need to arrive?

We start early – morning shifts kick off from 6.00am. We need people who are up for the challenge, will follow through on their commitment, like working with others, and are willing to jump right in. Plan to get to the venue at least 30 minutes before your shift times start so that you have time to park and walk to check-in. We know you like to be fashionably late, but trust us, you should arrive early. You will receive special instructions about parking prior to the even (all parking for volunteers is FREE).

Shift hours

The volunteer shift runs from 6:00am to 4:00pm with volunteers running together in a private 4:00pm wave to celebrate the end of the day.

What do I need to bring?
  • Valid photo ID
  • Waterproof sunscreen
  • Sun hat
  • Rain/Wind protection (weather dependent)
  • Cash (spending money)
  • Positive attitude
What should I wear?

You should wear whatever you will be most comfortable in. We recommend lightweight layers, sun/rain protection and comfortable walking shoes (no thongs, please).

Volunteer check-in process
  • Go to the volunteer tent, usually located by participant check-in
  • Sign-in with your Volunteer Manager
  • Get your shift assignment briefing
  • Prepare to have an awesome day!
What if I can't make it?

Volunteers play important roles at our Raw Challenge events so it’s important that everyone takes volunteering seriously. If you register to volunteer, you need to actually show up. If you are no 100% certain you can register, please wait until you are before signing up. If you sign up and then decide you don’t want to volunteer, you will lose your $50 deposit. After all, the purpose of the deposit is to ensure that only those people who are committed to volunteering, regardless of what may come up, get the opportunity to do so. However, you will still get your deposit back if you can find someone to cover your shift.
